In 2005, Petr and Veronika Tichy moved from South Bucks to Prague in the Czech Republic. In a village called Kralupy, just outside Prague, they set up “Betel Czechia”, a residential centre for people suffering from addiction – mainly to drugs and alcohol. Since then, over 300 men and a small number of women have passed through their doors. A good proportion, although sadly not all, have found freedom from addiction and a new life in Christ.

Back in the summer, a Saint James member found Petr and Veronika in good spirits (apart from a shoulder injury that Petr sustained by falling off his mountain bike!). Their furniture restoring, sales and upholstery businesses, which cover most of their running costs and employ their residents, are going well. Some of the residents have recently been baptised, and alterations are underway (with Saint James’ help) to extend and upgrade the men’s accommodation..
