Christmas Appeal

This Christmas we are continuing our partnership with Graeme and Bequi Innes in Moldova.

Graeme and Bequi work for a church in the capital, Chişinău, and have formed strong links with a number of evangelical churches across the border in Ukraine. Donations to the Saint James Christmas Appeal will be directed to churches in Ukraine who are working hard to take the good news of Jesus, as well as practical aid, to their local communities.

If you would like to make a donation
please head to our Christmas Appeal giving page.

The Situation in Ukraine

We’ve recently been in touch with Graeme and Bequi to find out how they’re getting on and what’s happening in Ukraine.  Graeme writes:

Thanks ever so much for inquiring about the possibility that some of the Christmas appeal might go towards the material and spiritual needs in Ukraine. We are so thankful to you all at St James for your loving and generous heart! One of our great privileges is seeing how the Lord so generously provides for us, and for the work of the Gospel, through His people. We are often truly amazed by His kind provision and care. Our thanks and praise are to Him, but we also truly thank you for your considerable kindness and generosity!

If the St James church family would like to give anything, I would be very happy to get those resources to trustworthy churches doing fantastic work in difficult locations. We know that the needs are great there, and the support far far less than what it once was, so any help is tremendously appreciated by the churches that I know well in southern Ukraine.

Update 15th Dec 2024
Graeme Innes has been back in touch with some particular needs.

There is a rundown part of Odesa where there are many locals residents in vulnerable situations and many internally-displaced persons have settled. Every Wednesday there is a bread distribution. Between 500 to 1,200 wait for several hours for a single loaf of bread. While waiting the Gospel is preached, and the seed is being planted each week. A church is now being planted in that neighbourhood as a number have now professed faith in Christ. It costs £1 for 3 loaves of bread, and many loaves are needed each week.

In Myoklaiv, at Grace of God Church, 200 hundred children will be coming over the New Year period for evangelistic messages. They will each receive a package with food, hygiene products and Christian literature for their age. The cost of each package is £10.  There are similar needs at the church (Light of Truth Church) in Kherson which you supported in the past. The winter this year is colder than last one, it was -9 C this morning.
