“Let the little children come to me... for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these” — Mark 10:14
Jesus taught that the greatest truths of God’s Kingdom can be understood and grasped by children.
That’s why our vision in the Kids Team is to partner with parents to grow young disciples. So, whether you know Jesus well or not really at all, we’d love you to come and get to know him with us here at Saint James.

Kids on Sunday
Every Sunday, in Gerrards Cross, we have groups for children (at The 10:00 and The 5:30) with age-specific teaching from the Bible – and a whole lot of fun! Parents are welcome to come and sit in, but most choose to sit in the main gathering where they can listen to the sermon. We’re used to welcoming new people – so if you’re new, we’d love to say hello!
What happens in a service?
Someone from the Kids Team will be there to welcome and say ‘Hello’!
(1) Creche — 0-4s (2) KS1 Kids — 4-6s (3) KS2 Kids — 7-11s
At The 5:30, children re-join parents during the last song of the service.
FAQs
What happens during a Sunday service?
Children start in the main service with their families before heading out to their groups.
We run groups for under 4s and primary aged children. Our Kids Team leaders walk the children to their groups which include a mix of games, singing, Bible stories, and activities that help them to learn about Jesus in a way they can understand and enjoy.
At the end of the service, children are collected from the Saint James Centre. On Sundays (once a month) when we share communion, children are brought back to their families in for that shared time.
Do I need to register my child?
Yes, all children need to be registered. This is for their safety and to enable us to care for them. You can complete the form before you arrive or when the children go to their groups.
What safety measures do you have in place?
The safety of our children is always a priority. To ensure the safety of every child:
- All leaders are DBS checked and receive child safety training.
- All our groups are age-appropriate with activities that are safe and fun for all.
Can I stay with my child if they’re nervous?
Absolutely! We understand that some children will need time to settle in. You are welcome to stay with your child until they feel comfortable, and our leaders will do their best to help them feel safe, welcome and included.
What if my child has additional needs?
Please let us know any relevant medical, developmental, or allergy-related information when you register. We want every child to feel welcome and safe, and we will do our best to accommodate any specific needs.
Do you run anything for kids during the week?
Yes! Our toddler group, Tiny Tots, is for parents & under 3s. It meets on Wednesdays during term time, 9.30am-11am. Each session costs £3 and can be booked via the Tiny Tots page.
Ignite is our monthly kids club for children in school years 3-6. It meets on a Friday during term time (4pm-5.30pm) and includes a variety of activities, games, crafts — and a chance to find out about Jesus. Each session costs £5 but if costs are an issue, free tickets are available too. We don’t want anyone to miss out!
