Helping men and women struggling with addiction to find new life in Christ.

Jesus brings real freedom, not just from sin but from the chains of addiction that hold so many in captivity. In the Czech Republic (Czechia), thousands struggle with addiction, but too few know that Christ offers them a new life. We are part of the Bétel community, a global Christian ministry dedicated to restoring lives broken by substance abuse, crime and homelessness. Since starting in the Czech Republic in 2005, Bétel has grown into a vibrant family of men and women being transformed by the power of the gospel.

Our homes near Prague are places of discipleship, healing and hope, where residents live together, work together and worship together. Over time, we have seen God do the impossible: bringing freedom, purpose and joy where there was only pain and despair. The need is great. Addiction, particularly alcoholism, touches nearly every town and family across the country. Yet the resources for long-term, Christ-centred recovery are few.

Through Bétel, we long to see not only individuals set free but communities changed, as these new believers re-enter society, work honestly, raise families and serve in churches.

In the coming year, with God’s help through prayer, we are planning to:

  • Welcome more residents into our homes.
  • Expand our work businesses to help fund the ministry and offer dignified work.
  • Build stronger connections with local churches and Christian entrepreneurs.
  • See more lives transformed and people baptised into faith in Christ.
  • Train up new leaders who’ve been through the programme themselves.

Prayer Points

  • Thank God for his faithfulness in growing Bétel Czechia over the past 20 years.
  • Pray for the current residents: for a deep encounter with Jesus through the gospel to fill them with lasting hope.
  • Pray for the Lord’s protection over the staff and volunteers and for gospel unity in our community.
  • Pray that new leaders would join our team, committed to seeing people find new life in Christ.
  • Pray for healthy partnerships with local churches to welcome and disciple those coming out of addiction.
