The course starts on Monday 22nd February 2010

When did you last…

service your car?
revise your finances?
check your gas boiler?

…reassess your parenting skills?

The Perfect Parent

Are you the ‘perfect’ parent? If not, you are probably like most of us – occasionally out of our depth in uncharted waters, as our children grow and push the boundaries. Why not take time, away from the hub-bub of family life, to consider how you are parenting? The Course is free to attend and is aimed at the parents and carers of children up to the age of twelve. The Course is open to all in the local community.

Whilst based on Christian principles, it will be helpful to all parents regardless of faith and background.

The Parenting Course

The Parenting Course at the Saint James Centre in Gerrards Cross is designed to run over a six-week period. It will allow you to spend a couple of hours a week thinking about the way you parent your children. Stepping out of your normal routine, you will have the opportunity to meet with other parents.

The first half of each evening will be a talk by local parents on a range of topics. After refreshments, we break into groups for the second half, to consider the ideas put forward from the talks and to share experiences.

Topics Include:

  • Passing on values
  • Developing confidence in children
  • Expressing love in various ways
  • Working together & making up
  • Routines to develop family life
  • Relationships in a family
  • What a family is for
  • Planning our time
  • Discipline & reinforcing right behaviour
  • Handling children’s anger and defiance
  • Developing family traditions
  • Building close relationships
  • Choosing the right battles
  • Children’s emotions
  • Parental leadership
