At the two St James we see ourselves as part of the worldwide church of all denominations. We believe that God makes it possible for every Person to know him as Father through his son, Jesus Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit. We are part of the Church of England, in the Diocese of Oxford, that seeks to reach out to and serve all who live in our nation - regardless of age, gender, race or culture. In our local context we define our mission and ministry as a church in terms of Bring, Build, Send.

Bring

8500 people live in our parish and many thousands in the wider area from which our congregation is drawn. Through our lives and through our ministry as a local church, we are committed to sharing the love and hope of Christ with everyone who lives in our community, whatever their age or background.

Build

On an average Sunday 450-500 adults, and more than 200 children and young people come to the different services and Sunday groups. During the course of a normal week there are many activities and small groups that bring people together. We aim to be a Christian community where every follower of Christ is supported and encouraged to grow in faith, hope and love.

We believe that the strength of a church is measured on the basis of its sending capacity not its seating capacity. Every one of us is called by God to serve his purposes in our world, starting where he has already placed us. For many of us that means serving God's purposes through the ministry of the two St James.

"We want the two St James to be a place where everyone feels welcome."
